Minoxidil: An Introduction to a Strange Treatment

If you have ever looked into hair loss treatments, you have likely first looked into a Minoxidil product. Rogaine, for example, is a Minoxidil product that is often used by men that are suffering from high degrees of hair loss. Minoxidil is considered the most common way to treat male pattern baldness without surgery, and most people consider it the leading chemical available.

How Does Minoxidil Work?

One of the most interesting things about Minoxidil is that it how it works is actually not well known. Minoxidil was created to lower blood pressure, and suddenly people started realizing that those that had balding scalps seemed to be regrowing their hair. It is also known that Minoxidil decreases the amount of Dihydrotestosterone that the body creates, though again the way that it performs this action is not well known. The results, however, are fairly apparent, and at the very least Minoxidil is an effective way to prevent hair loss.

How Safe is Minoxidil?

This is where the serious problems with Minoxidil arise. While it is an effective way to reduce or reverse your hair loss, the chemical has a serious problem with side effects. Some of these side effects are very minor, such as scalp itching, dandruff and acne. Others can be much more significant, such us blurred vision, full and partial impotence, and very low blood pressure.

That is what makes Minoxidil a far riskier decision when it comes to deciding how you are going to treat your hair loss. You can use a Minoxidil product and you will likely get the results that you want, but you run a severe risk of side effects that will significantly impact your life.

Should You Use Minoxidil?

Obviously, there is a question about whether the results of using Minoxidil are worth the risks. In some cases, it does make sense, because knowing that Minoxidil works is enough for most people (especially because there are so many ineffective treatments). But in the end, the answer is no, because although Minoxidil is effect, there are other treatments that have the same amount of effectiveness without any of the risks.

For example, a product known as Procerin is made of all natural ingredients - no chemicals like Minoxidil. It produces the same results as Minoxidil but without any of the health risks, because Procerin is side effect free. Although Rogaine and those treatments do work, Procerin is simply a better decision.
